Frost se se hizo un aprendiz de un grabador cuando ten\u00eda quince a\u00f1os, pero se desmotivo para continuar porque su maestro dijo que \u00abno ten\u00eda el talento por dibujar\u00bb. Sin embargo, un amigo le pidi\u00f3 que ilustrara una antolog\u00eda de historias entretenidas, y en 1874 A. B. Frost hizo su debut art\u00edstico con la publicaci\u00f3n de &#8216;<em>Out of the Hurly Burly<\/em>&#8216;, escrito por Max Adeler.<\/p>\n<p>En 1876 Frost se uni\u00f3 al departamento de arte de Harper &amp; Brothes y se fue un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s a Londres, Inglaterra para estudiar dibujo. All\u00ed conoci\u00f3 a Lewis Carroll que le pidi\u00f3 que ilustrara la antolog\u00eda de poes\u00eda c\u00f3mica &#8216;<em>Rhyme? and Reason?<\/em>&#8216; que se public\u00f3 en 1883. Ellos tambi\u00e9n colaboraron en &#8216;<em>A Tangled Tale<\/em>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de su retorno de Inglaterra en 1878, A. B. Frost comenz\u00f3 estudios en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Pennsylvania.
